Global Startup Ecosystem Index 2023

StartupBlink has published the results of an analysis of the current state of the global startup ecosystem, as well as key trends in the development of the top 100 countries with the highest startup ecosystem ranking.


The first place in the ranking of the most developed startup ecosystems is still occupied by the USA. It is noted that North America accounts for 50% of all startups raising funding.

Software & Data remains the largest sector for startups, covering 32% of startups globally. The HealthTech (12.83%) and FinTech (10.43%) industries also account for a significant number of startups.

Meanwhile, global startup funding, after reaching a record $624bn in 2021, has fallen by more than 30% to $431bn by the end of 2022.

In addition, there has been a trend of slowing growth in the number of "unicorns" in recent years. While the number of "unicorns" grew at 80 per cent per year between 2020 and 2021, this growth rate has declined to 8.5 per cent over the last year.
